Work in Progress

So, a month ago, this is what the front of our house looked like. Since we moved in two years ago, I 've wanted to put in something in the front yard - partly cause it needed some plants, and partly cause it gets really muddy when it rains. So a month ago we started digging, and two tons of limestone later we have the beginnings of a path and flower bed! We have a few steps to go still, but yesterday we got the rock more or less where we want it. We need to do some leveling, relaying the stones along the driveway, and filling in the decomposed granite. And then planting some plants.
After the first day we realized this was a much bigger job than I had first thought!

Cookout and a Two-Step

Mark had the afternoon off on Friday (thanks to the coolest perk ever on a job -- Summer Hours), so we headed to Mckinney Falls State Park for a cookout. We walked the three-mile loop, and then grilled salmon and corn, and ate mango. Naomi made the hike in the backpack carrier, had dinner, and then played in her packnplay. It was an experiment for us in what camping might be like with a kiddo. She topped the evening off by taking two steps on her own!! That's right, No hands.

Spring Day

Springtime in Texas is one of the prettiest times of the year. So, Naomi and I went out in the backyard to play. She loved the wind and sunshine and sound of birds. Naomi was much more interested in her food and the grass than her toys. I tried to get a picture of us together...And eventually, the quilt could not contain her! Now that she is getting older, I hope to have more days outside!

Its a Box

There has been a lot to post about recently, most importantly, the new box we got the other day at Babies R Us! It is really exciting - it even came with flaps that can open and close! It is the convertable kind - it can be a cave, fort, or garage.

10 Months Old

Naomi turned 10 months old Wednesday! She is getting to be such a little person, as our small group observed. She's been standing on her own more and more, and I finally got a picture of her. Here she is in her new dress, with one of her favorite books.

Things we have done since I started working part-time 3 months ago:

  • Take Walks
  • Nap well
  • Make baby food
  • Have coffee with friends
  • Pull to standing, stand unassisted, cruise and walk holding on to something or someone's hand
  • Sing
  • Laugh
  • Pet the cats
  • Try new food, and eat some of it
  • Met Mark for lunch
  • Take pictures
  • Read
