It was a weekend of driving, beaches, and a tour-de-hotels in Long Beach, California. Mark had business there, so Naomi and I thought we'd go along for the weekend. She got to put her feet in the Pacific (but only once - it was cold!) and we all got to dig in the sand and find anemonies and starfish.

We visited the Aquarium of the Pacific - which was very cool. It was cool even for an almost-8-month-old, cause she could get right up to the glass and meet fish, Puffins, and a monster crab!!

We learned on this trip that traveling with a kiddo is definitely different than traveling just the two of us. First, is that Naomi goes to bed early - so we had a lot of take-out for dinner. Second, is that 7 month olds don't really understand the concept of a "time change". So. Saturday morning she was awake at 5:30am, climbing over us and ready to start the day. So we got an early start driving north. We took the Pacific Coast Highway and found beaches, a state park with sand caves and star fish and anemones, lots of sand and some mountains. We drove to Malibu then came back through the mountains and Hollywood.

A Celebration of Daddy-hood

7 months and a Superstar! (That's what you are...)

Well, this is a blog about all of us, so I was going to write about a couple of things. Naomi turns 7 months today. It was my last day of full-time work. Mark's sister Christa is visiting and we'll go see her fiance play a show downtown. But Naomi wanted to mix it up a bit, being the superstar that she is.


Naomi decided to celebrate her birthday by pulling up. I didn't get a good video of getting to her feet, but here is picture proof she went from sitting, to knees, to feet:









And there is lots of motivation in seeing out the window! This new learning is introducing the new feeling of frustration, also demonstrated in this video (be warned!). We are so proud! Isn't she cute?
