Fun with Nana and Pop Pop

Besides the fun of the wedding, and buying supercool fancy dresses, and staying up late, the best part of the Wedding Weekend was staying with Nana and Pop Pop -- or as Mark likes to call them, "Mother" and "Dad." Naomi had a blast staying there for four days. Check out why:

Hair curlers - Naomi got her hair done almost every morning, and at least three times a day.

Cousins!! We get to see Anna and Abby, which is always fun.
The Kinderwagon - she's a little big for it, but hey - we get to say Kinderwagon.

And finally, the piano - Naomi and her Nana played a song together, and then Anna and Naomi thought they could play a duet. Hmmm, this could be the future.

Happy Wedding!!

This past weekend Mark's sister Christa married Andrew - and we are all very excited. Welcome Andrew! Congratulations!!
Christa looked absolutely beautiful - and so was the wedding! It was, thankfully, the beautiful and sunny day in a week of rainy days.
Here we are at the rehearsal dinner. Naomi celebrated with us and had lots of fun, but she did not want to stay put. She was much more interested in walking around outside and playing in puddles. Luckily Anna came out to play too.

At the reception, she loved watching her cousin Abby (the flower girl) spin on the dance floor. At one point, she was standing there mesmerized, and then tried a spin of her own - she slowly turned in a circle! But really, how could you not in that dress?

The festival continues

This past weekend was my sister-in-law's bachelorette party overnight in Port Aransas - hello, the beach! It was a blast. Here's the bride-to-be (in tourquoise) and her entourage. For dinner we went to the second reason to go to Port Aransas (aside from the beach) - the Crazy Cajun! Where they serve your food like this. AMAZING!
This is the "sistah's" picture - here's Christa with myself (her sister-in-law), her sister Carrie, and her soon-to-be sister-in-law Rebecca.

Aside from eating, we floated in the ocean, walked the beach, and stayed up late. It was fantastic.

Birthday, continued

With grandparents in town, a birthday is not just limited to one celebration. We went swimming, and Naomi discovered she loves the open water. We also went to the Austin zoo, where saw lots of animals, and rode the train.

Some of you Baylor alums might recognize this bear - his name is Bobby. He was born in 1994 and served as a Baylor mascot until 1996. Since then, he has hung out at the Austin zoo. Sadly, we suspect he has not had a Dr. Pepper since then. Seriously, it seems that black bears cannot be controlled once they mature, and can't serve as a mascot at that point. That is why Baylor mascots change so often.

Naomi's Birthday

We celebrated Naomi's birthday with a kiddie pool, a mango and carrot cake - all of which she loved. Oh, and a Dragonfly Balloon! I love having a kid - its such a great excuse to buy a fancy balloon at the grocery store! While she may not remember her actual birthday, she really did have a great time. And wouldn't let go of the mango for anything.

Happy Birthday Naomi!!!

I'll post more pictures soon of Naomi's First. Needless to say, we are amazed that it has been a year. So, a year ago today Naomi was born at 2am. At 7am that day, I woke up with her sleeping next to me, all wrapped up.
Today, Naomi woke me up at 2am, and then again at 7am. At 7 I brought her into our room, and she woke us up, moving around, climbing over me, sliding off the bed, and then walking around the room.

The Box

Naomi's current favorite toy is this:

That's right, a box.
She loves the books that came in it, also, but this box? Is AWESOME. It has a handle for carrying, the front opens and closes with a magnet. It holds things. It also doubles as a seat and a stepping stool. Naomi carried it over to a kitchen chair one day, set it down, and climbed from this box onto Mark's workbag and from there onto the chair. Sometimes she sits on it and spins around.

Sea World

So, last Friday we went to Sea World with Mark's family for our niece's 7th birthday. It was so fun, poured rain and we saw killer whales and got close to the dolphins. Here's Naomi with her 3-D glasses on for the pirate movie. She and Anna played in the kiddie pool area. And in the end, we were all beat by the end of the day!

Happy Birthday Abby!

Our niece Abby turns 7 this week (she's in the back of this picture, with me, Naomi, her mom Carrie, and sister Anna). This is a Happy Birthday shout-out a bit early, although we already celebrated her party on Saturday. Her actual birthday is this Friday - and we will celebrate again at Sea World! We love getting to spend time with her. While you are all busy being jealous, check out these pictures from her party. And the video is afterwards at Mark's folks' house. Three granddaughters is a handful! The video might seem long, but hang on til the end and you'll get Abby's super-dooper smoothie recipe, as well as Naomi's interpretation of "I've fallen, and I can't get up!"
Happy Birthday Abby, we love you!!
