Flip Happy

Saturday morning we ate breakfast at the most wonderful place -- Flip Happy Crepes. That's right, the lovely establishment pictured here.
The great thing is that its outside, on a corner, with lots of dirt and rocks for Naomi to play with before the food is ready. You might think I am kidding, but no. See, Naomi doesn't do well for long meals out. Yes, she did let me grab a sandwich on Friday after the library (and I plan to get her used to going to lunch with me!), but the last time we tried to go to brunch (Magnolia Cafe with my folks), Naomi spent the last half outside. She is just too busy. But here we were already outside! And then it is very convenient for walking to the hike and bike trail for a walk.

But on to the crepes. These crepes were fantastic! And Naomi loved them as well. She had a mini-crepe filled with strawberries and a bit of vanilla pastry cream. I had one with scrambled eggs, spinach, tomatoes, and gruyere cheese. Mark's was similar, but with a fried egg, ham and gruyere. And then, because I had to try something sweet too, we got one with vanilla pastry cream, berries and berry sauce.

See these happy customers? See that berry/pastry cream filled crepe?

Colorado - There I Went

This last weekend I flew up to see my sister for a couple of days. It was totally last-minute -- that was half the fun! So, we went shopping, and ate dinner, and watched cheesy movies (I confess I've had music from Bride and Prejudice stuck in my head all week, thankyou). And I got to see my nephew Alvin - I got to see Alvin climbing on giant breakfast food.

Word of the Week

Here Naomi is playing a cup game with me - she has the patting down, and definitely the idea of switching cups. But I warn you, this is really a demonstration of Naomi's new word of the week: "no"!

Update!

Naomi was the last of four babies born at our church within 3 months of each other. Here they are when Naomi was three weeks old. From Left to Right: Eli, Ellaiden, Cash, Naomi.

Here they are again - 14 1/2 months later! L to R: Naomi, Eli, Ellaiden, and Cash.

15 Months

Naomi turned 15 months old last week. She continues to do more and more. Talking as much as she can, telling us what she wants, using crayons, and asking to go walk outside! She's brought home a painting from school, and loves to go down the slide by herself, and point out slides in books.

Where's Naomi?

Nap Time

As I mentioned before, Naomi's new game is playing "naptime". Here I've caught it on video - she is covering up her bear and then patting him. We also rearranged her room, so she has better space to play in there. Her bench now fits, so that and the rocking chair have been good places to sit with her bear and blanket.
This playing has come in handy for our real naptimes. If she is standing up in bed, I can say "Naomi, lay down so I can cover you up." And she does.

Swinging

As part of our longer weekend, we hung up the swing Naomi's Nana and Pop Pop gave her for her birthday -- and it is a hit! She protests whenever she has to get out and requested to go to her swing before breakfast. Thanks Nana and Pop Pop!!

Vacationing in Austin

Mark has taken some time off (much needed!), so yesterday we played in Austin. First, it was breakfast tacos at El Chilito. We love this place, and were only sad that it didn't open until after we had moved from our apartment (that was one block away). Naomi loved that the table was low enough she could eat with us. Then we headed to the playground at Zilker Park. Naomi is queen of the slide. She has mastered going down by herself. It helps that her classroom at school has an indoor slide, and I'm pretty sure she just slides over and over and over, all day. You can tell in the picture - she is ready to go!
